Rules and Expectations:
We are currently using a positive reinforcement behavior system. In addition we use a Stoplight as a way for the children to visually see and track behavior. Each day, the students begin on the green light. If the student is not following expectations the child's name will be moved to yellow light after 2 warnings. The child has the rest of the day to improve behavior and move back to green light. However, if problems continue, 2 more warnings will be given the student's name will be moved to the red light. If the child ends the day on the yellow or red light, a note will be sent home explaining the behaviors that occurred. If the child ends the day on red, and the situation requires, a phone call home or a quick discussion at pick up will be necessary to address the behavior. *hitting, biting, pushing are completely unacceptable in the classroom and will be addressed with the parent if the problem arises
I expect all of my students to learn, grow, and develop to the best of their ability. In order for the children to learn it is essential that they understand our class rules and except nothing but the absolute best from themselves and their friends! At the beginning of each year, the students will work together to develop a list of classroom rules that all agree upon. The rules will then be posted in the classroom.
Here is an example of our list from the 2014-2015 school year:
- walk
- Use kind words: please, thanks, sorry
- clean up after yourself
- use safe hands and feet
- share with friends
- have fun
